WCNR Field Guide Apps

The Warner College of Natural Resources provides the Mtn Campus Field Guide and CSU Baja Field Guide apps in support of courses held at CSU's Mountain Campus and CSU's Todos Santos Center.

The Mtn Campus Field Guide contains information on animal and plant identification and other topics covered in NR 220 and serves as a field guide and study guide on your mobile device. New! The download links below will attempt to detect if you are currently connected to the Mountain Campus WiFi and download the app from the local MtnContent server if needed.

The CSU Baja Field Guide contains information on animal and plant identification and other topics covered in FWCB courses in Baja California Sur, Mexico and serves as a field guide and study guide on your mobile device.

The apps are self-contained once installed you do not need a data connection to use them.

The current versions of the field guide apps for iOS and Android devices are distributed directly from the Warner College of Natural Resources and are available to those with a CSU affiliation. You will be required to login in with your CSU credentials in order to download and install the apps.

The fieldguide apps are large files. We recommend downloading them over WiFi if you have a limited data plan.

Installation Instructions

As these apps are distributed directly from CSU, installation on your iOS and Android devices will require you to take additional steps to allow use of this application.

For iOS devices, after you have installed the app you will establish trust for the app developer (Colorado State University). To do this, on your iOS device tap Settings > General > Device Management. Under the "Enterprise App" heading, you see a profile for the ‘colorado state university’. Tap ‘colorado state university’ under the Enterprise App heading to establish trust for this developer.

For Android devices, when clicking on the download link above and you see the message "This type of file can harm your device. Do you want to keep APK anyway?" click OK. After the download completes, click to open the downloaded APK file. If you have not already authorized your browser to install unknown apps you will be prompted to go to your settings and allow this. After you have allowed the source, you can click install.
